One of my favorite conservative commentators, Dennis Prager, published an excellent article on what the world’s cultural elites think of Israel’s dealing with the recent attempt to break the naval blockade of Gaza. Dennis’ article titled, “If Israel Is Not Evil, the World Is in Big Trouble” is right on the mark. Here is his conclusion:
The reason mankind has to hope that the world, its leaders, its newspapers, its so-called human rights organizations and the United Nations are right about Israel is quite simple: If Israel is the decent party in its war with the Palestinian Authority and Hamas -- and nearly all the world's countries, nearly all the world's media and the United Nations are morally wrong -- what hope is there for humanity? If the world's moral compass is that broken, are we not sailing into a dark age?The world’s moral compass is in fact broken and we are indeed sailing into a dark age the Bible calls the Tribulation. The world’s moral compass is broken because, “the kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us” (Psalm 2:2-3).
The cultural elites of this world do not believe God’s Word. If they did, they would know about Zechariah 12:3-6…
It shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. In that day," says the LORD, "I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, 'The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the LORD of hosts, their God.' In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place-- Jerusalem. (NKJ)We are on the cusp of this prophecy being fulfilled. All the nations of the world are gathering against Jerusalem, the capital of Israel. A dark time is coming that will be accompanied by big geopolitical changes. God said in Habakkuk 1:5, “Look among the nations and watch-- be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you.” That was true in the day God raised up the Chaldeans to discipline Israel, and it prophetically applies today as He prepares to restore the prominence of Israel.
Now is not a time to put off following Jesus… “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36).
