Axis of Evil

It amazes me when I see people with divergent ideologies ban together for some common purpose. It is especially striking when that purpose is to oppose God. North Korea is exporting their nuclear and ballistic missile technology to Iran and Syria. At a minimum this threatens the peace but it is a rather direct threat to Israel, the apple of God’s eye (Zechariah 2:8).

None of these countries have any love for Israel and are collaborating to “cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more” (Psalm 83:4, NKJ). But it is not just Israel that is the focus of the rouge nations, there is evidence that Iran is collaborating with Venezuela. Hugo Chavez has no love for Israel either but he is more of a threat to his neighbors in the Americas.

The old proverb, “birds of a feather flock together” is very true. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” (NKJ) As those who are of the light and love God should seek communion with fellow light bearers, we can expect those of the darkness to commune together.

Jesus told us that evil doers will indeed collaborate together… “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?” (Luke 11:17-18). We can expect to see more of this as we get closer to the Lord’s return because, “evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).

Most people are in denial about the root cause of what threatens the peace in the world. They don’t see the connection between the national leaders with evil intent and the idea that they are acting in opposition to God. Psalm 2:2-3 says, “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.”

As long as people don’t even recognize what is behind the nations preparing for war, there is no way mankind can stop the path we are on in this world. The Bible tells us that more and more nations will drawn into the axis of evil to the point where all nations will be represented at the battle of Armageddon; Revelation 16:14-16.

Fortunately, “you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief” (1Thessalonians 5:4).
