Government Fairness

Is the US government bail out of GM fair?

Details of the government take-over of GM continues to filter out but there are more questions than answers. There are unprecedented conflicts of interests between the government that regulates the auto industry and the government that runs GM. President Obama said the government is not going to make decisions for GM but what will they do when decisions between profitability and preserving jobs are encountered? The government has already demonstrated that the interests of the unions will be favored over bond holders.

There is no doubt that we are in an unprecedented era of big government getting bigger at an accelerated rate. Of course the Bible tells us where we are headed... the biggest possible government ruling everyone on earth under the Antichrist. Revelation 13:8 says, "All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" (NKJ).

Another question that comes up about GM is how fair it is that the government is favoring GM with help with cash when they need it. How about Ford, Toyota, and all the other auto companies that manufacture in the U.S. trying to play by the rules? The government is effectively subsidizing GM and Chrysler. The problem with the government bail-out of GM and Chrysler is that they are rewarding failed policies while they are punishing successful companies. This is what socialists seek to do, bring everyone to the same level of mediocrity. That is their concept of fair.

The government's concept of fairness to one group is unfair to another. They'd be better to just keep their hands off what is better left to the private sector. We should expect to see more and more of this irrational convoluted thinking as we get closer to the Lord's return. Romans 1:28 says, "even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting" (NKJ).

Another trend that comes to mind is the growing spirit of the Antichrist... Isaiah 5:20 says, "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (NKJ)
